Beyond Limits Herbert Nitsch was given the prestigious title of The Deepest Man on Earth, when he set the current world record for free-diving at an incredible depth of 214 metres in 2007.

As one of the spearheads of free-diving today, Herbert intends to push the limits even further by becoming the first breath-hold athlete to break the 300- metre barrier.

Mens qualifying in CNF (constant weight without fins).

It was a sunny but cool day today. I misjudged the temperature and consequently started my warmup to early. I was shivering half way through my warmup, which is definitely not good but,  well  you just have to deliver. So I went anyway. Right from my start, I felt that I wasn't well prepared for the dive and I was considering to abort on every single stroke. After picking up some speed at around 40m my negative thoughts faded out. At the bottom, I made a half-hearted attempt to grasp for a tag, but missed it. I knew I wouldn't need it in order to qualify for the finals, so it was more of a practice. Swimming back up was far easier than expected due to my changing to a much lighter weight.
